I Didn't See Anything (Part Two)

Image
Artist: Kade Mallory Part 2: I couldn't see anything, just whiteness. Maggie's scream played over and over in my mind. I could still hear the sound of metal twisting and breaking, the loud thunder-like boom from the impact of metal on metal. Am I dead? I couldn’t help but think of my family. How would they handle the news of their daughter and her best friend being murdered? I could see their grief stricken faces as they prepared my funeral. My mother sobbing as the guests gave their condolences. Would there be guests? Would anyone care? Surely we’d be too disfigured to have a viewing. Our funerals would be closed casket. My body, too mangled, no one would want to see it. My family, left with the empty feeling of receiving no closure from my death. Why couldn't I see anything? The noise was so loud I could barely hear myself think. I tried to rub my eyes. That's when I realized they were closed. Was I asleep? Wake up, Hannah, wake up! Suddenly my eyes ...

I Didn't See Anything (Part One)

Artist: Kade Mallory “Start from the beginning, again.” Dr. Carlisle said, grabbing her notepad and adjusting her glasses. I tapped my fingers anxiously on the brown, leather couch where I sat facing her. The blood pressure in my head was rising and I couldn’t bring myself to form the words she was asking for. She sighed. “Hannah,” she set her notebook aside and leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees and clasping her hands together. Her ocean blue eyes stared intensely at me, never releasing her gaze. “you will never get better and you will never feel safe until you accept what happened so you can move forward.” She leaned back, eyes still locked on me. “I can’t release you from this treatment facility until you prove yourself to be a functional, independent, human being that isn’t a danger to yourself or others.” “I know.” I looked away, embarrassed. It’s been three years since my best friend was murdered. Since then, reality and memory blend together, like I r...

There's A Man in My House (Part 2)

I could hear him talking in the background and then his voice came through the my phone loud and clear. His voice was deep and menacing. “If you go to the police, she dies.” He whispered. Suddenly, the call dropped. He hung up on me. I froze, losing grip on my phone and it fell out of my hand and crashed on the floor of James’ truck. “I know what you're thinking.” James put his hand on my knee. "Don't-" I opened the door, forcing him to stop his truck and I jumped out. I ran full force back towards the house. I heard the slam of his truck door and knew that he was chasing after me. He was faster than I was, catching up to me quickly. I tried to ignore him but he grabbed me, wrapping his arms around my waist and picked me up. “No!” I shouted, kicking and flailing. “Stacy is in there! I can’t leave her!” “I can’t let you go in there!” His strength was like pushing against a brick wall. I was no match for him. “She’s in the house!” A sob broke through my ...

There's a Man in My House (Part 1)

This story is a little blast from the past that I've edited a little bit. I wrote it for school when I was fifteen. I tried to keep my fifteen year old me in it to keep it's originality. Enjoy! Part One: It was a dark and stormy night, and I was home alone, watching T.V. The rain was pounding heavily on the roof. I stared out the window as it drizzled down making designs on the glass. The night was dark and the wind made a slight whistling noise as it blew through the trees, making them sway back and forth. I flipped through the channels on the television but there was nothing on worth watching. I decided to turn it off and go do some homework. It was spring break, my homework wasn't due for a week but, to make time pass by faster, I decided to do it. As I sat at the kitchen table, I pulled out my school books and opened the first one, calculus. I sighed as I pulled a piece of paper out and began the lesson. My mind wandered everywhere but where it should be, making my he...
